Brainchild is a DIY music and arts festival, celebrating and promoting the work of emerging artists and practitioners across a multitude of disciplines. Cathy's role within the organisation is as part of the decor team, designing and installing site wide decor, and running workshops as a part of Brainchild's year round arts program.
Interior decor for the Bar, one of the festival's largest venues. Working with the wider decor team, Cathy designed the decor and fabricated a series of chandeliers, working with crochet, yarn fringing, shimmer curtain, and pompoms. She also designed and managed the make of other elements, such as shimmer and yarn tassel bunting, and 'pompom rain' bunting.
In 2016, Cathy designed and made a smaller piece for the festival, to cover a section of fencing leading to the late night area. Re-appropriating the industrial material of debris netting, and combining with colourful crochet trims, she created playful blob/webs that attached to the fence with yarn, and led the festival goer into the woods.
Crochet workshop series in March and April 2017, aimed at people interested in getting involved with Brainchild. Workshopers got to meet the design team and learn about how we design decor for the festival, as well as learning a new skill.
